Domestic abuse and domestic violence is something that has become more and more common in recent society across the United States. Domestic violence refers to any instances where your spouse or partner harms you physically. You could be a victim of domestic abuse if your partner or spouse continuously abuses you emotionally and mentally as well. Domestic abuse refers to events where your spouse is threatening you all of the time and is constantly trying to control your life. Domestic violence is very detrimental to your physical and mental health. You should try to get as far away from your current situation of domestic violence as soon as possible. The following article contains what you should do to survive situations of domestic abuse.

1 – If you are in a heavily dangerous situation of domestic violence you should make plans to abandon your house without anymore delays. If you do not have any friends or family members that you can turn to in this current situation, head towards a crisis shelter or center that is closest to you. There are many help shelters or centers in every state that helps people that are going through situations of domestic abuse and have nowhere to go. There are also national hotlines that you can call in order to find shelters that help people in situations of domestic violence or domestic abuse.

2 – Once you are able to distance yourself from the immediate dangers of the domestic violence and domestic abuse that has been going on in your household you should take cautionary steps to rid yourself of these dangers once and for all. You should begin by cutting yourself from being able to be contacted by the person who is inflicting the domestic abuse upon you. Do so by having your phone number changed. If you are continuously contacted and left threatening voicemails by the person who is inflicting domestic violence upon you and your family, you should make sure you keep these for potential evidence.

3 – Always be prepared to flee a dangerous situation when living in situations of domestic abuse of domestic violence. You never know what situations may arise when living with such volatile people. Make sure to avoid putting yourself in potentially dangerous and harmful situations. Avoid areas where you could get yourself brutally injured from any forms of domestic abuse or domestic violence. If you are living in a house that contains weapons, be sure to avoid those rooms. Even the kitchen should be avoided when in volatile situations. Even once you change locations, have a plan devised in possible emergency situations where you may have to run away. You never know when the abuser will be able to hunt you down again. People who are prone to domestic violence should make it a habit to change their traveling routes from time to time; more often than necessary. This will help you to keep away from domestic abuse by making it difficult for the abuser to find you at a certain place at a certain time.
